Lisa Giesick

Head trainer, owner

Lisa is the owner of Ohana Pet Training on Maui, Hawaii. Having worked with animals for over 30 years, including the animal welfare field for 16 years, she’s a certified professional dog trainer with the CCPDT (CPDT-KA) and is a member of APDT, IAABC, and PPG. With an educational background in child development, psychology, and criminology, basic and advanced humane academies, she has worked as an animal control officer, humane investigator, educator, and behavior counselor.

In September of 2005, Lisa started her own training business. She also went on to teach animal behavior and care classes for high school students in addition to teaching dog training classes before moving to Maui in 2007 where she continued Ohana Pet Training.

Lisa has since taught countless puppy kindergarten and group dog classes, helping dogs and their people. Lisa believes that most behavior problems in dogs are caused by a lack of communication - because humans and dogs don’t speak the same language. Dog training to her is about building a relationship and she encourages people to learn about dogs and teach their dogs to understand them through positive reinforcement techniques.

Kelley Shamblin

Assistant trainer

Kelley Shamblin is a full time trainer with Ohana Pet Training. She is passionate about helping people with their pets and enjoys offering in-person private lessons and teaching group classes.

As a lifelong animal lover and caretaker, Kelley is the proud guardian to two rescue pups, Rio (9 year old bearded collie) and Sassy (4 year old terrier mix), as well as a 12 year old ginger kitty named Jake.

Kelley moved to beautiful Maui in 2013 from Las Vegas in hopes of turning her dream of helping animals into a career. Soon after arriving, she began to follow her passion by volunteering and fostering dogs with the Maui Humane Society. As a way to offer the animals more in-depth support, she became certified in animal reiki and animal communication.

Kelley began her apprenticeship with Lisa in October 2017 and the rest is history. She is now making a difference in the lives of animals, their pet parents, and her community.

When she is not working with dogs, Kelley enjoys being in the ocean as much as possible. She enjoys boating, paddle boarding, whale watching, and snorkeling. On land she enjoys baking, hiking, and adult coloring books.

Jayme Giesick

Having shared his life with many types of animals, Jayme discovered his calling in helping others to comprehend their canine companions. His passion lies in facilitating effective communication between humans and dogs, breaking through language barriers to foster mutual understanding and learning.

With three years of dedicated professional dog training and over seven years involved in various dog daycare environments, he has honed his ability to understand their unique cues and behaviors. This journey has allowed him to refine his skills in not just training, but also in fostering meaningful connections between pets and their owners.
